Dear Junior Golfer and Parent:

The Golf Institute would like to invite junior golfers, ages 7-17, to play in our Spring 2010 Junior Golf League.  The TGI Junior Golf League is designed for the junior who already knows how to play and wants to improve their golf course performance.
First time members will be evaluated after the second week of play to verify that they are qualified to play in the league and if they are not quite ready, we are now offering new programs (which are separate from the league) to help gain the skills necessary.  Too, first time members aged 7 or 8 must be accompanied by a parent during the first two weeks of play to also evaluate their junior.  This will allow a parent to be able to discuss skills, equipment, and game knowledge with League staff.  Should the junior not qualify for the league and wishes to drop out, TGI offers other programs during the
year to enable the junior to develop - please inquire.
The league plays at The North Texas Golf Center Par 3 golf course located at 2101 Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas.  The league will play for 12 weeks. The new Session Begins on Sat. September 11th, 2010 and will end on December 4th, 2010.  November 27th is the skip day for Thanksgivign Holiday. We will be playing 9 holes weekly.  A talented junior may upon approval, move up to another age division or for female's move to a male division.  Each week the play will alternate between one of 3 different formats: stroke play, scramble, and best ball. We will be awarding trophies at the session end for most points accumulated in each division.
We will be offering Junior Golf Instructional Clinics the hour before league play.  The Cost of a clinic is $25.00 per session or $85.00 for (4) four clinics.  The class size will be limited to 6 participants to 1 instructor. Classes will be taught by one of the Golf Institutes qualified instructors.  Registration for the clinics will be taken in advance and will be necessary in order to attend.  Call 972-418-1042 to reserve your place for the clinics or sign up at the counter at the NORTH TEXAS GOLF CENTER.  You do not need to be a League member in order to attend the clinics.  Clinics will be held on Saturdays 9:00-10:00 A.M. Call The Golf Institute for Information. 972-418-1042.

JUNIOR LEAGUE
RULES FOR PLAY FORMATS

"SCRAMBLE"
The Scramble format is a team play format whereby:
1: Each player tees off from the assigned tee area (whites or blues) and the
team (or team captain) decides which was the best shot.
2: All players will play from the spot of the best shot selected (other players
will pick up their ball a go to that ball).  The player whose ball was selected will place a tee in the ground approximately 9"
to the side of the ball to mark the spot where the ball was.  That player then plays his ball, and all other players will play
     from the same spot.
3: This procedure is followed until the ball is holed.
**Caution - when putting, always mark the ball.  If someone "taps in" then that will be the score even if others are waiting to putt.

"BEST BALL"
The Best Ball format is a team play format whereby:
1:  Each player will play his/her own ball throughout the game.
2:  The team score on each hole is the best score of one of the members of the team.
 (Ex:  One hole #1;  player 1 scores a 4, player 2 scores a 5, and player 3 scores a par 3 - the team score is a 3 for that hole)
Note: If a player has so many strokes on a hole that there is no way to help the team,  that player should pick up his/her ball to help speed up play.

"INDIVIDUAL STROKE PLAY"
Individual Stroke Play is where the individual player will play his/her ball throughout the game and the score taken on
each hole is his/her individual score.
1:  Each player will give his/her scorecard to another player to be the official "scorer".   That scorer will record the player's
score on each hole and at the end of the game, return that card (with total shown)  to the player so that the player may
check the card to see if it is correct.   If the score is correct, the player will then sign the card under "attest" (attesting to
its accuracy) and turn the card in to the tournament committee.

Note:  When keeping the official card of another player, always keep your score as well so that you can check your score against the scorecard that will be returned to you to attest.
